Nurse Coaches Feel Like Imposters (Why this is a good thing!)
Mar 09, 2025
Feeling Like a Fraud? That’s a Good Sign.
I’ve felt like a fraud so many times in the last five years.
Honestly? I feel like a fraud anytime I do something new.
Despite my accomplishments.
Despite my qualifications.
Despite external validation.
Sometimes, I still feel like that 20-something, broke, bankrupt, ex-drug addict who couldn’t even open a bank account.
But then I learned something that changed everything:
👉 Successful people almost always experience imposter syndrome.
Instead of seeing it as a red flag, I started seeing it as an opportunity to lean in.
And what I’ve realized is this:
If you feel like an imposter, it’s probably because you’re doing something that truly matters.
What is Imposter Syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is that nagging feeling that you’re not good enough, that you don’t deserve your success, or that at any moment, someone will "find out" you don’t actually know what you’re doing.
It’s incredibly common—especially among high achievers.
And instead of letting it hold you back, what if you saw it as proof that you’re on the right path?
4 Reasons Why Imposter Syndrome is a Good Sign
1. Imposter Syndrome is Common Among High Achievers
Studies show that imposter syndrome is most prevalent among high achievers—the people who are constantly pushing themselves into new territory.
If you feel it, chances are, you’re stretching yourself in ways that will lead to growth.
2. Imposter Syndrome Means You’re Self-Aware
People who experience imposter syndrome tend to be highly self-aware. They question their abilities, reflect deeply, and seek ways to improve.
That kind of introspection? It’s the foundation for real personal and professional growth.
3. Imposter Syndrome Can Be a Motivator
Believing you don’t deserve your success can actually push you to work harder, refine your skills, and step into the next level of your potential.
Instead of letting self-doubt hold you back, use it as fuel to move forward.
4. Imposter Syndrome Keeps You Humble
Feeling like an imposter reminds you there’s always more to learn.
It prevents complacency, keeps you grounded, and helps you approach your work with humility—which makes you a better coach, leader, and business owner.
What If Feeling Like a Fraud is Actually a Good Thing?
If you’ve ever asked yourself:
"Who the hell am I to have my own business?"
Guess what? You’re in great company.
The most successful people in the world have had the same thought.
The difference? They didn’t let it stop them.
